剧情简介
在日军侵占的小县城里，兴汉中学校长杜兴汉继续主持校务，其女杜湘灵和教员李月亭是他的得力助手。他们认为教育是国家的命脉，因此抵制日本侵略者企图以消灭文化来摧毁中华民族的各种阴谋。杜湘灵的未婚夫朱友宾突然回到县城，他原是个品学兼优的爱国青年，其父朱安奎颜事敌，担任了伪县长。朱友宾也与日本人为伍。杜湘灵鄙视他们，毅然放弃儿女私情，与友宾形同路人。县城里的抗日分子非常活跃，一日炸毁日军的军火库。月亭作为嫌疑犯被捕……。Based on the Short Story by Flannery O'Connor.
