The film's protagonist is a young man who wants to feel free in hi...。Brian Clough(麦克·辛 Michael Sheen饰）带领的德比郡足球俱乐部混迹在二级联赛里，他和一级联赛的强队利兹联足球俱乐部的恩怨始于1968年的足总杯。那一场比赛德比郡输给了利兹联，赛后Brian指责利兹联凶悍残暴的踢球风格。利兹联队的主教练Don R evie（科尔姆·米尼 Colm Meaney）与其针锋相对。德比郡后来签下了不少好球员，在Brian的带领下成功冲到一级联赛。再次和利兹联队相遇，他们还是输了。但后来德比郡夺取了联赛冠军。在成功的路上，Peter Taylor（蒂莫西·斯波 Timothy Spall 饰）是Brian的最佳搭档。随着Don成为英格兰国家队的新教练，Brian也接受了利兹联队的邀请，成为了利兹联队的新教练。然而利兹联队的球员们对他充满了敌意。Don Revie也频频对他的继任者展开攻击。Brian在利兹联的日子并不好过，到底他在魔鬼联队利兹联会有着怎样的前途？。
